Many businesses have a range of legacy applications that have served them well, but are now either outdated, out of support or no longer fit for business.
Deciding how to approach a legacy system replacement and having the resources to do it, are challenges we are familiar with and can help you overcome.
We offer a bespoke service to identify the scope of work required to replace a legacy system, help you draft a set of requirements, go to market and then implement your chosen solution.
Our engagement focuses on identifying all of the touch points that your existing legacy systems interact with, albeit business processes, cross divisional data sharing, analytics, customers, suppliers, direct integrations.
With a robust understanding of who uses the system (and it’s outputs), we will work with you to draw up a complete set of system requirements.
With the system requirements and a solid understanding of the business process, we will develop a number of potential solutions and work through the solutions with you to define:
- Priorities from a vendor selection process
- Cost / Process efficiency / Longevity
- Process change that may need to be considered
- Often businesses have built their existing process around how a system functions.
- Rather than assume this is the ‘best way to do it’ going forward, we will help to identify processes that could potentially be re-worked in the business.
- Pain points
- The world has changed and legacy applications haven’t always kept up. Identifying modern work practices that the system doesn’t accommodate today helps identify key drivers for your replacement solution.
- Cost savings
- We firmly believe that you need to assess a system replacement and consider all potential impact points.
- With a system change, there are often opportunities to reduce overall business cost and improve efficiency.
Vendor selection process
With your endorsement and guidance we will begin the process of comparing vendors in the market and obtaining pricing and implementation plans.
With the assessment will come features or requirements that can’t be supported. With the requirements list and business processes documented, we will work through these and identify gaps that need to be addressed, shortcomings that may drive the vendor selection in a new direction and opportunities for improvement.
Once you and your decision making team are happy with the chosen vendor, we will work with your team to establish an implementation plan.
Implementation plan
Implementing a new system can be simple, but often times in the case of legacy applications, the process change and training elements take far longer than the system implementation will.
We will work with you to tailor the implementation plan to accommodate the internal requirements and accommodate the time commitments that key members of your team may have with their need to run the day to day operation. Training and migration rehearsals will be planned around your availability with the vendor.
Cutover
Cutover to a new system is always stressful. Our implementation plan will aim to highlight the additional support that may be required at cutover and ensure that documented roll back processes are written, rehearsed and able to be executed from a play book.
If any of the above sounds like something we can assist you with, please get in contact or book a 30 minute call to discuss.
